Sole Bowl Troubleshooting

Foot Spas sold under the name Ashiyu have the same components and designs as the ones we are selling as Sole Bowls. They have been very trouble free over the 10 years we have been building them, but some problems do arise occasionally. Here are some tips for keeping your spa running well.

Keypad display is upside down

This is an option that can be toggled by pressing the "up" and "down" arrows together.

Light in the bowl doesn't shine

The bulb in the light fixture is likely burned out. They are the bayonet style with a 5W rating. They are available at many stores or by visiting our web store (soon). When the water is drained the bulb can be pulled out of the fixture and slid back into place.

The water is not crculating

If the pump is humming but the water is not moving, there might be air trapped in the plumbing after a recent water change. Stop the pump and bleed the air out, either by opening the faucet inside the cabinet or holding down the red button on the filter for a minute.

NO power to the spa

If the keypad has a blank display the spa is possibly not receiving power. Check the plug that the spa is plugged into. If the spa is outdoor there is a possibility that the GFCI plug has been damaged. If the reset switch will not engage, the GFCI might need to be replaced. Visit our web store (soon) or contact Sole Bowl to arrange a repair visit.

The high speed jets won't come on

The relays on the circuit board are probably stuck. Our solution is to replace the entire circuit board with a refurbished one. Please contact Sole Bowl to arrange a repair.

The low speed jets won't come on

The relays on the circuit board are probably stuck. Our solution is to replace the entire circuit board with a refurbished one. Please contact Sole Bowl to arrange a repair.

The water is cloudy

The water needs to be changed. Also the filter might be clogged. The best solution is to drain the water and remove the filter from the canister. Replace it with one from the hardware store or by visiting our web store (soon).

The water is not heating

The temperature setting on the spa is probably set too low. Press and hold the "up" arrow to see the target temperature. Press the "Set" button to enter it.

Slow water level drop

This could be due to the jet fixtures in the bottom of the bowl coming loose. They can be tightened with a 7/16" hex wrench. Use a light pressure to turn each of the eight fittings.

Rapid Water level drop

This could be due to freezing damage due to cold weather. Most often it is confined to the canister of the filter. It will have visible cracks. It can be replaced by visiting our web store (soon) or buying one from Lowes Home Improvement stores for about $20. The item is a whole house water filter, part #: WHKF-DWH by Whirlpool.

The keypad is not displaying properly

It turns out that little animals are inclined to chew on the ribbon cable for the keypad. If your keypad is mounted on the bowl, it is especially vulnerable. Consider wrapping the length of the ribbon cable with a layer of aluminum foil. Damage can be repaired with a simple soldering operation. If we can help with that, please call.
